Snyder Eyeing the Top 10 at the Finals

As the PDRA heads into it’s last race of the 2015 season, Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation team roll into Virginia Motorsports Park excited for the possibilities that come with the PDRA World Finals.  This marks the seventh and final race for the Snyder Motorsports’ Supercharged, ComSyncEFI Top Sportsman Corvette, which attended a combination of PDRA, NHRA and exhibition races though out the last half of the season.  The 5-time Season Champs got a late start to the year, but they managed to pack in some success with two number one qualifiers, the latest coming at the NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park, a runner up finish in the last PDRA race at Rockingham Dragway, and a win at the PDRA Memphis Drags.  With a strong finish this weekend, October 23 and 24, at the Dinwiddie, VA facility, the team could move into the Top 10 of the final PDRA Points Standings for the ultra-competitive Top Sportsman class.

“The Top 10 in points never even crossed our minds when we débuted this new ComSyncEFI combination in Memphis, but with only two PDRA races under our belts, it is a possibility.  What was seen as just a testing year has been both a testing year and a successful season or half season in this case. If we can keep this season’s momentum going, our team could be ordering some new numbers for the window of our Powersource Transportation ride over the winter.  In a class like Top Sportsman, where low ET doesn’t necessarily matter, it’s pretty exciting,” Snyder smiled.  “The Virginia track has been good to our Snyder Motorsports team over the years.  Sometimes I feel like a broken record when we talk about different tracks, but when you drag race on national tour across three decades you are bound to have success somewhere.  We have been extremely blessed.”

“This marks the last race of the season for our Snyder Motorsports - Powersource Transportation Supercharged, EFI Top Sportsman team.  While we had a shortened competition schedule, Snyder Motorsports still attended both NHRA and PDRA races since the beginning of the season helping costumers, testing ideas and pedalin’ parts.  I would love to make passes all year round, but I am excited for the off-season, as well.” Snyder explained, “The winter break gives race teams time to evaluate their programs, make changes, send off parts to get freshened up and get geared up and stocked up for the 2016 season.  While I think it might be a busier than usual off-season for us with the success of ComSyncEFI, Snyder Motorsports uses the off-season to evaluate our business, expand our product lines, grow our customer base and make improvements.  We have a lot of “new” in store for our customers this off-season.  It should be pretty exciting.  I know I’m excited.”

The first of 3 rounds of qualifying for the PDRA World Finals begins on Friday at 10:30 AM.  Qualifying continues on Saturday with a fourth and final chance to make the 16 car field beginning at 11:00 AM and final eliminations begin at 4 PM.  For up to date information please log onto www.dragracecentral.com

Snyder Top Qualifier at the Arch

For their first NHRA national event in six years, Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team traveled to Gateway Motorsports Park for the NHRA Midwest Nationals.  The 4-time Season Champs and their unconventional supercharged, electric fuel injected Top Sportsman combination gained a lot of exposure and posted combination best numbers.  While the eliminations could have gone better, it was still a successful trip back to the quarter mile and the NHRA national event scene for the Snyder Motorsports Orange Menace team.

After the first day of qualifying, the Powersource Transportation Corvette ran a booming 6.264 to put them in the provisional number one spot on Friday.  The second day of qualifying the team improved to a 6.226 at 227.92, a new combination best ET and mile per hour, on its way to the number one qualifying spot. In the first round of eliminations, Snyder had a losing package with the 6.266 at 226.77 mph effort.

“It was a good weekend for the Powersource Transportation Team.  Anytime you are running best numbers and qualifying at the top with a new, unique combination you can’t complain.  With that said, we really would have liked to go a few rounds here.  I put too many numbers in the box and the car rattled the tires a little, we are better than that.  We just need a few more laps to get a good NHRA set up dialed in.  But that’s racing, we have one more PDRA race on the schedule, so we get a chance to redeem ourselves before the off season,” Snyder laughed.

“All and all, we leave here with our new combination running best numbers.  We are learning more with each race, and we are gaining exposure for our Lencodrive Transmissions, VED Hemi Heads and ComSyncEFI system.”  Snyder continued, “With all the buzz around this deal, it should be an exciting off-season.  We had quite a few people stop by and check out our new deal this weekend.”

The final event on the Snyder Motorsports Powersource Transportation Schedule is the PDRA World Finals on October 22-24 at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, VA.

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, ComSyncEFI, Coan Converters, JE Pistons, NGK Spark Plugs, Lucas Oil, Flatout Gaskets, R & R Racing Products, VED Hemi Head, Aeromotive, VP Racing Fuels, Snyder Auto, Safety Kleen and Long Printing for their continued support over the years.

Snyder Looks to Keep the Momentum Going at Gateway

Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team haul to the Arch for their sixth race of the season.  This is the Snyder Motorsports Team’s second trip to the famed Gateway Motorsports Park facility this year.   With their late start to the 2015 season, the 4-time Season Champs débuted their new Supercharged, Electronic Fuel Injected Top Sportsman Combination at the Divisional here in early August.  This season has proved to be a successful one with a Number 1 Qualifier here at the Divisional, a Win at the PDRA Memphis Drags and a final round appearance in their last outing, PDRA Dragstock at Rockingham Dragway.  The former Top Alcohol Funny Car pilot is hoping to keep the momentum going as he competes in his first NHRA National Event in 6 years.   Snyder is looking forward to getting back to some quarter mile action at the NHRA AAA Insurance Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park near St.Louis, MO on September 25-27.

“It has been a great start to the season for the Snyder Motorsports team.  We are just a handful of races into the season with a completely new combination, and we have already had great success.  New best numbers come easy with a new combination, but to already have a number one qualifier, a win and a runner-up under our belts this soon is unreal.  This ComSyncEFI Engine Management and these VED Hemi Heads are pretty amazing to say the least,” Snyder explained.  “We consistently dipped into the threes at the last PDRA race, so that should make us a contender for the number one spot quarter mile racing here at the NHRA Nationals.  I’m excited to see what this mix of new Supercharged, Electronic Fuel Injected and proven Snyder Motorsports Lencodrive and Coan Converter combination can do.”

“It has been about six years since we have competed at a NHRA National Event and seven since we hoisted a Wally, but that was a different class, Top Alcohol Funny Car.  It would be great to finish this weekend back on the stage with this new Top Sportsman deal.  My Son, Cam, is turning 4 years old on Sunday and he really wants a Wally for his birthday.  I can only hope we can deliver,” Snyder smiled.

The first of 2 rounds of qualifying for the NHRA AAA Insurance Midwest Nationals begins on Friday at 10:30 AM.  Qualifying continues on Saturday with the final chance to make the 32 car field beginning at 10:30 AM.  Final eliminations begin at noon on Saturday and finish up on Sunday afternoon.  For up to date information please log onto www.dragracecentral.com

Snyder Rock Solid with Final Round Finish
New Supercharged, EFI Combination Best ET and Speed

Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team took their 1963 Top Sportsman Corvette to e Professional Drag Racers Association’s Dragstock, their most prestigious race of the year, at Rockingham Dragway over the weekend.  The Rock, which is known for being one of the fastest tracks on the circuit, proved to be just that for new unique supercharged, electronic fuel injected combination, which broke into the 3-second zone at over 183 miles per hour.  The 4-time Season Champs, who were victorious at the PDRA’s last stop, the Memphis Drags, came just short of the back to back wins as their Snyder Motorsports Corvette shook the tires in the final round and couldn’t run the number.

“We didn’t win, but we made it to the finals again.  It was a great weekend for the Powersource Transportation Team and ComSyncEFI.  We consistently put together 3-second passes, which are new combination best numbers, went some rounds and proved Memphis wasn’t a fluke.  We finally got to start tuning on this deal and really liked the way it responded.  With four qualifiers at the PDRA, it really gave us some time to play before we had to go into race mode and leave it alone.  We haven’t had many laps to tune on this deal in all actuality, so it should only get quicker and faster as we keep learning what all this system will do,” Snyder smiled. “I’ve said it before, but I think it is safe to say we have a pretty neat hot rod here that can go some rounds.”

After four solid qualifying passes, the Powersource Transportation “Orange Menace” Corvette ran a new combination best of 3.988 at 183.24 on its way to the number four qualifying spot in the tough 16 car door slamming field.  Snyder took the win in the first round of competition with a lifting 4.076 at 157.83 mph effort.  In the second round, Snyder had the winning package with the holeshot and a dead on 3.997 at 182.62, breaking his opponent out.  In the semifinals, Snyder took the win with a .011 light and a 3.994 at 183.02 on the 3.98 dial.  His competition took the stripe but went too fast sending Snyder to the finals for the second straight PDRA race.  In the finals, Snyder left with a slight starting line advantage, but starting shaking the tires just past the 60-foot clocks slowing the car to a 4.067 at 181.32 on the 3.98 dial and giving his challenger ample space to tighten up the stripe and take the win.

“We are having a blast in Top Sportsman.  We had another great weekend where everything just clicked.  The racers are tough.  The cars are quick; it took 4.04 to get in the top half of the field.  We are going rounds, which always elevates the enjoyment.  Not to mention, we love the challenges that come with new ventures, between the new class and the new supercharged, electronic fuel injection combination, we are in our height of glory.  Our whole team is family or might as well be family; I am blessed to have such a great team.  I need to thank Jason and Mitchell (Scruggs) and Barb (Bakos) from Powersource Transportation for giving us the opportunity to switch this car over and try new things like Top Sportsman, ComSync and the VED Hemi Heads.  It just can’t get much better than this.”

“We learned a lot this weekend.  The more passes we make; the more data we collect.  We get to go quarter mile racing at the next race, and I’m excited to make some changes and see how quick we can make this combination go on the long track,” exclaimed Snyder.  The next event on the Snyder Motorsports Powersource Transportation Schedule is the NHRA AAA Insurance Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis, MO on September 25-27.

Snyder Taking Experience to the Rock

As the Professional Drag Racers Association heads back to the birthplace of the exciting 1/8th mile door slamming series, Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation team roll into Rockingham Dragway excited for the most prestigious race of the PDRA Season.  The Snyder Motorsports Crew is rolling into North Carolina’s The Rock with a little extra confidence this year.  The 4-time Season Champs were victorious at the PDRA’s last stop, the Memphis Drags, with their supercharged, electronic fuel injected Top Sportsman 1963 Corvette and were victorious last year at the rain delayed Dragstock while the same chassis was in Pro Extreme trim.  The former Pro Extreme Champs hope to use the experience from these winning combos to hoist the Dragstock XII trophy in Winner’s Circle after the race on September 11 and 12.

“We have always had great luck in Rockingham.  I think Dad won here back in 1999, and I won in 2000 with the IHRA Pro Outlaw dragsters.  Last year, we had a runner-up at the spring race and a win at Dragstock, but that was with the Pro Extreme version of this Corvette.  It’s a whole new game now with the Top Sportsman deal.  As long as you are in the top 16 after the last qualifier, you have just as good of shot at that Winner’s Circle as the number 1 guy.  We are having a lot of fun with this new Top Sportsman deal, where low ET does not necessarily ensure an advantage.  With that said, the goal this weekend is a 3 second pass,” Snyder smiled.  “It has been a great first half of the season for our team.  It says a lot about my crew and these new projects we are helping develop.  The ComSyncEFI engine management has proven to be deadly with this supercharged combo, and the VED Hemi Heads are running great numbers and have had a huge role in the new package.”

“We had a small hiccup at the last NHRA race, so the guys at Visner Engine Development have been burning the midnight oil fixing our one of a kind billet manifold.  Mark at Flatout Gaskets got us some new gaskets, just in case.  Being aligned with such great people and companies make life a lot easier,” Snyder explained.  “We have had the car apart and back together, so we should be ready to go some rounds and pedal some Snyder Motorsports parts this weekend.”

“If you ask my son, Cam, we are most excited to watch Tom and his Lucas Oil Jet Dragster fire down the 1/8th mile,” Snyder laughed.  The first of 3 rounds of qualifying for the PDRA Dragstock XII begins on Friday at 10:30 AM.  Qualifying continues on Saturday with a fourth and final chance to make the 16 car field beginning at 11:00 AM and final eliminations begin at 4 PM.  For up to date information please log onto www.dragracecentral.com

Bluegrass Blues for Snyder

Fresh off their PDRA Memphis Drags Top Sportsman crown, Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team traveled to Beech Bend Raceway Park for the NHRA Division 3 Lucas Oil Regional in Bowling Green, KY.  This race capped off the Snyder Motorsports’ Mid-Western Swing and the first half of their 2015 Schedule.  The 4-time Season Champs brought their unconventional supercharged, electric fuel injected combination to the track for the fourth weekend in a row to take on a tough Top Sportsman field of bracket pro mods.

The three-day event proved to be a little up and a lot down for the Snyder Motorsports team.  During the first qualifying session, the Powersource Transportation “Orange Menace” Corvette ran a 6.370 at 210.67, which put the team second heading into the final day of qualifying.  Unfortunately, parts failure on that pass would end the team’s weekend and any hope for the number one spot or a first round victory.  While the Friday shot was good enough to qualify number two in the tough sub 7-second 32-car door slammer field, it was not the pass or the weekend the team was looking for when they rolled in the gate.

“It wasn’t the best weekend for the Powersource Transportation Team, but I have had way worse.  We qualified number two, but we took out the burst panel and cracked the manifold.  This new deal is just that new.  We have had a lot of success so far, but we are still learning and collecting data on each lap.  Some knowledge gained along this learning curve is not necessarily gained the best way or in a way you would like, but it can be a necessary evil.  We pushed some limits on that pass and found a couple weak links,” Snyder explained.  “When you are testing out new ideas and pushing innovation, there will be set backs, and this isn’t as much of a set back as it is a learning experience.”

“We will find what caused it and solve the issue.  We will get the manifold up to VED and get it repaired.  The next manifold will be a beef up version of this one.  We are testing and learning and that is a good deal.  We should be ready for Rockingham in a couple weeks,” Snyder smiled.  “Plus, it gave us a little extra time to help out Marty Thacker in Top Alcohol Dragster, who was running our VED Hemi Heads for the first time this weekend with quite some success.  He should have something to work with now for the US Nationals.”  The next event on the Snyder Motorsports Powersource Transportation Schedule is the PDRA Dragstock XII on September 10-12 at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, NC.

Snyder Cruises to the Corvette Capital

Bowling Green is known as the Corvette capital of the World, which would make it a great place for the next stop on the Snyder Motorsports’ Mid-Western Swing.  This NHRA Divisional marks the fourth race in as many weekends for the Powersource Transportation Team.  The last stop with their Supercharged, Electronic Fuel Injected Combination proved to be a more than successful outing as Mick Snyder and the Team claimed Top Sportsman victory at the PDRA Memphis Drags in Millington, TN.  The new combination ran a new best at 4.029 and demonstrated consistency to take the win.  The 4-time Season Champs are looking forward to getting back to quarter mile racing at the last NHRA Division 3 Lucas Oil Series race of 2015 at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, KY on August 28-30.

“It has been a great start to the season for the Snyder Motorsports team.  We are just a few races into the season and a completely new combination, and we have already had great success.  We won last week at the Memphis PDRA and were number 1 qualifier at the last NHRA Divisional,” Snyder smiled.  “That says a lot about our team and these new projects we are developing.  The ComSyncEFI engine management has proven to be deadly with this supercharged combo.  The New VED Hemi Heads are running great numbers and have played an underemphasized part in our new package.  These heads should have a chance to shine on their own this weekend, which is very exciting.  I am really excited to get out and make some quarter mile laps, pedal some Snyder parts and hang out with racing friends and customers.”

“This is the fourth race in a row and the fourth different state for our team.  Normally, you would be getting burned out and exhausted, but we are still excited and refreshed.  This new combination and new class is energizing.  We are doing well, still fine tuning the combination and have a lot of potential left in the car.  That keeps it exciting,” Snyder explained.  “We have done well here in the past with the Alcohol Funny Car, and hope to do well here this weekend with the Powersource Transportation Top Sportsman Corvette at its ‘home’ track.”

The first of 3 rounds of qualifying for the NHRA Lucas Oil Regional begins on Friday at 3:30 PM.  Qualifying continues on Saturday with the final 2 chances to make the 32 car field beginning at noon and 3:30 PM.  Final eliminations begin at 10:30 AM on Sunday.  For up to date information please log onto www.dragracecentral.com

Snyder Takes Top Sportsman Crown at Memphis

The third stop on the Snyder Motorsports Top Sportsman schedule brought Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team to Memphis International Raceway in Millington, TN for the PDRA Memphis Drags II.  The former Pro Extreme World Champs debuted their new unconventional supercharged, electronic fuel injected Top Sportsman combination to the PDRA, Professional Drag Racers Association.  When the dust settled and the champions crowned, the Snyder Motorsports Team collected the hardware and the big check.

“We won,” Snyder exclaimed!  “It was a great weekend for the Powersource Transportation Team.  We were able to take this new supercharged, electronic fuel injection combination to Memphis and get the win.  Pretty crazy to say the least, but it was a great way to showcase some of what this ComSyncEFI engine fuel ignition management system can do.  This car ran within a few thou to the 330 every pass, till the finals when the track got a little better and I saw the red light so I drug the shifts out a little.  We leave here with our new winning combination running great.  We have 3 races on this new combo, and I think it will only get better from here.  At this point, it has progressed faster than we expected.  It’s an impressive system that simplifies the tuning and helps protect engine parts, an easy win win in my book.  This car has a lot of potential left, but I think it is safe to say we have a pretty neat hot rod here that can go some rounds.”

After three solid qualifying passes, the Powersource Transportation “Orange Menace” Corvette ran a new combination best of 4.029 at 181.35 on its way to the number four qualifying spot in the tough 16 car door slamming field.  Snyder took the win in the first round of competition by just eight inches with a .014 light and a 4.065 at 180.60 mph pass on the 4.05 dial.  In the second round, Snyder had the winning package with a lifting 4.146 at 171.23 mph effort.  In the semifinals, Snyder took the win with a 4.190 at 146.88 mph pass.  The finals matched up the current PDRA Top Sportsman points leader against the class newbie, Snyder cut a .013 light and ran a too fast but winning 4.036 at 181.23 mph pass to his opponent’s red lighting effort to take home the PDRA Memphis Drags victory.

“Top Sportsman is a lot of fun.  It is a great class with a lot of tough racers.  To go rounds in a class like this, you need a good car, a good driver and a little luck.  We had all of that this weekend and everything just clicked.  It is thrilling to get a win this early in a new class, but now we have to prove it wasn’t beginners luck and keep the momentum going.  All the new procedures and changes that come with a new class are exciting,” Snyder explained.  “We are having a great time out here right now.  Hopefully, we can keep it going.”

“I am blessed to be able to race with my family.  Everyone has their jobs to do and does them well.  We were short a couple kids this weekend, but we had the littlest one and even he was helping push the car out of the pits.”  Snyder continued, “I am lucky to have them and need to thank them for all they do for Snyder Motorsports and me personally: my dad and crew chief, Larry; my mom, Bev; my wife, Lindsey and my kids, Madilynn, Briar and Cam.  Our newest crew guy and newest employee at Snyder Motorsports, Cam Brady has meshed right into his new role.  We also had Ryan Micke helping out this weekend, and he proved to be a major asset.  I also can’t thank Barb Bakos and the office at Powersource Transportation enough for all they do for our team.  We are honored to be the fastest mover in the power only trucking fleet.  Mitchell and Jason Scruggs let us borrow this Corvette and then allowed us to switch it over to a completely new deal, and I am grateful for all they have done for us.  We have so many people and companies that support this operation and the list gets longer every year.  It amazes me what we can all accomplish together.”

“We learned a lot this weekend.  The more passes we make; the more data we collect.  We have a few things on the car we can change to get it going a little quicker, and I’m excited to make some changes to the laptop and get to the next race,” exclaimed Snyder.  The next event on the Snyder Motorsports Powersource Transportation Schedule is the NHRA Division 3 Regional at Beach Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY on August 28-30.  That will make the forth race in four weeks for the Top Sportsman team.

No Blues as Snyder Hauls into Memphis

Memphis may be known for their blues beat, but Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team are humming a happier hymn.  The Snyder Motorsports Crew motors into this weekend’s event in high spirits and with high hopes as they debut their Supercharged, Electronic Fuel Injected Combination to the PDRA, Professional Drag Racers Association. The former Pro Extreme World Champs have some momentum heading into their third event of the 2015 season; their 1963 Corvette, while still a new combination, has been running flawless and setting new bests at each stop this year. The Top Sportsman Team is looking to qualify near the top of the pack and go some rounds at the PDRA Memphis Drags II at Memphis International Raceway on August 20 and 22.

“It has been a great start to the season for the Snyder Motorsports team.  We had a lot of new going on with this combination: new heads, new manifold, new rocker arms, new blower, new coil packs, new electronic fuel injectors and new engine management.  If I were to say it wasn’t at least a little nerve racking, I would be lying,” Snyder smiled.  “On paper and in theory, you can make anything look good, but to actually put it on the track and have it all perform and perform well has been exciting.  I find myself just staring at the car in the shop and laughing at how neat of a deal this really is.  I’m not sure this is the future of drag racing, but it definitely has the potential to be from what I have seen in just a couple races.”

“We are thrilled to be going to a PDRA race with our race car.  We have been to a few this year helping customers and pedalin’ parts, but this will be our first time back in competition.  We may be in a different class, but the objects are still the same: make it go faster and make it go some rounds.  We really think this deal has the potential to run 3-second passes.  We are heading into Memphis with some new ideas bolted on, a laptop in hand, a few more laps under our belts and a goal in mind,” Snyder said.  “We are looking forward to seeing our customers and friends, meeting some new ones in a new class and showing off the new combination to a group of racers we have had a lot of success with over the past five years.  It should be a fun filled weekend with the PDRA.

”The first of 3 rounds of qualifying for the PDRA Memphis Drags II begins on Friday at 10:30 AM.  Qualifying continues on Saturday with a fourth and final chance to make the 16 car field beginning at 11:00 AM and final eliminations begin at 4 PM.  For up to date information please log onto www.dragracecentral.com

Snyder Shines at Sold Out Show

The second stop on the Snyder Motorsports packed 4-race August schedule brought Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team to America’s Racetrack, Summit Motorsports Park, for the Sold Out Night Under Fire. The 4-time Season Champs and their new unconventional electric fuel injected, supercharged 1963 Corvette were invited to participate in the jaw dropping show.  The single day event is the largest in drag racing and features more of a show than a race with Fireworks, Light Shows, Autograph Sessions, Top Fuel Funny Cars, Jets, Monster Trucks and the X16, an eighth-mile heads up dragster vs. door car class.  The Snyder Motorsports Team, which was involved in the X16 class, had an enjoyable and productive outing

.After two qualifying attempts, the Powersource Transportation “Orange Menace” Corvette ran a tire-shaking best of 4.14 at 178 on its way to the number six qualifying spot on the tough door slammer side of the 16 car field.  First round Snyder tripped the finish line beams second with a new combination best of 4.078 at 179 miles per hour in front of the 40,000 plus fans that packed the Norwalk, Ohio facility to capacity.

“What a great weekend for the Powersource Transportation Team.  We didn’t win, but we gained a lot of exposure for our sponsors, our team and our new combination.  We raced our Snyder Motorsports Corvette in front of 40,000 plus fans that packed Norwalk.  Kurt Johnson and the Bader Family put on an amazing show for these fans,” boasted Snyder.  “It was a lot of fun.  We met some great people.  An autograph session, a parade lap and cutting up with the other drivers made the weekend great.  Heck, I even sat in a monster truck.  The added bonus of running our best lap to date with this new combination was just icing on the cake.  I think we are ready for the next stop on the Snyder Motorsports Mid-Western Swing, the PDRA Memphis Drags next weekend.”

The next event on the Snyder Motorsports Powersource Transportation Schedule is the PDRA Memphis Drags on August 20-22 at Memphis International Raceway in Memphis, TN.

Fun and Fans for Snyder at Norwalk

Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Team are in the middle of a 4 race Mid-Western Swing.  The second stop brings the Powersource Transportation Team to Summit Motorsports Park for the Night Under Fire on August 15th.  This special one-day event, which features Top Fuel Funny Cars, Jet Dragsters, Monster Trucks and Fireworks, will also feature a Door Slammer vs. Dragster 1/8th mile, heads up class called the X16.  The X16 will line up the quickest 8 door cars to take on the quickest 8 dragsters.  The Night Under Fire is the largest single day event in drag racing; it will take the Norwalk, Ohio facility to max with crowds at over 40,000 people for the nearly sold out show.

“This is one of those fun weekends.  It is more of a show for the packed stands than a knock down, drag out race; Kurt Johnson already gave us the ‘Earth Rotates by Itself’ pep talk. Don’t get me wrong, we have every intention of trying to win this deal, but the real plan is to sign some autographs, promote our sponsors, talk to fans, get a few more laps on our new deal and get ready for PDRA in Memphis.” Snyder continued, “We are excited to take on some of with the other invited racers, too.  Quite a few of the X16 racers are our customers, so it’s nice to have a less stressful race to hang out with them, relax and just catch up.”

Mick’s Sister, Shanna Snyder will also be racing in the X16 class with her Snyder Motorsports Lencodrive and Converter equipped, Troy Stone tuned Vintage Trailers Dragster.  “It will be a blast racing in the same class as my sister.  We raced a few times during the Jr Dragster days, but that was almost 20 years ago.  Honestly, I think she won most of our matchups,” laughed Snyder, the 4-time Champion.  “Hopefully if we line up this weekend, I can get the win light in my lane.  Either way, it should be a fun deal.  The whole Powersource Transportation team is excited to participate.”

Snyder Motorsports would like to thank Powersource Transportation and Barb Bakos for yet another year as the fastest mover in the power-only trucking fleet.  The Team is also thrilled to have all of their great associate sponsors back for the 2015 season.  Companies like JE Pistons, Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, Lucas Oil, ComSyncEFI, NGK Spark Plugs, R&R Racing Products, Coan Converters, Flatout Gaskets, VED Hemi Head, VP Racing Fuels, Aeromotive, DMPE and Long Printing make this dream a reality.

The first round of qualifying for the Night Under Fire’s X16 begins on Saturday at 11 am with the final qualifying shot to begin at 2 pm.  An Autograph Session will be held at 3:15 pm, and final eliminations for the 16 car field at set to begin at 5:30 pm.  For up to date information please log onto www.summitmotorsportspark.com

Snyder's Supercharged EFI Top Sportsman Debuts on Top

For the belated first race of the season, Mick Snyder and the Powersource Transportation Team traveled to Gateway Motorsports Park for the NHRA All American Hot Rod Showdown Regional event.  The 4-time Season Champs debuted their new unconventional supercharged electric fuel injected Top Sportsman combination, the first of its kind.  The two-day event proved to be a very successful first stop on the Snyder Motorsports schedule.

After three solid qualifying passes, the Powersource Transportation “Orange Menace” Corvette ran a new combination best of 6.322 at 212.16 on its way to the number one qualifying spot in the tough door slammer field.  Snyder took the single win in the first round of competition with a .003 light and a 6.376 at 222.25 mph pass.  In the second round, Snyder had a losing package with the 6.367 at 222.07 mph effort.

“It was a great weekend for the Powersource Transportation Team.  We leave here with our new combination running well.  We are just at the tip of the ice burg here.  We have nine attempts at this new VED Head, ComSyncEFI, roots blower combo.  At this point, it has progressed faster than I expected.”  Snyder continued, “It’s an impressive system that simplifies the tuning and helps protect engine parts.  This car has a lot of potential left, but I think it is safe to say we have a pretty neat hot rod here.”

“We had a great time racing this weekend in Top Sportsman.  Second round the other guy was .017 on the tree and dead on.  It was a nice ‘Welcome to Top Sportsman’ kind of deal,” Snyder said joking about his second round loss. “I think we have a very competitive, fast car that can make it into the later rounds of these races.  With a class like this, it is anybody’s game, and that’s where the challenge lies.”

“We learned so much this weekend.  This car is only going to get quicker.  I’m so excited to make some changes to the laptop and get to the next race.  It sounds so strange to tune a supercharged engine with a computer, but man is it exciting to think of the big picture implications of it,” exclaimed Snyder.  The next event on the Snyder Motorsports Powersource Transportation Schedule is the Night Under Fire on August 15 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH.

Snyder Heads to the Arch for First Race of 2015

Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Team are finally ready to start another exciting season of door slamming, drag racing action.  It has been a long, interesting off-season for the Powersource Transportation Team.  This new season has brought with it some major changes: new class, new engine combination, new electronic fuel system, new ignition system, new supercharger and new schedule options.  The 4-time champion is eager to get a fresh start with all the “new” in his ole, trusty 1963 Orange Menace Corvette.  The first competition stop on the Snyder Motorsports 2015 Tour is the NHRA Division 3 All American Hot Rod Showdown at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL on August 7th and 8th.

“It has been a crazy and long off season for our race team, but Snyder Motorsports has been extremely busy pedaling parts, helping customers and hitting select events on both the NHRA and PDRA schedules this season.  It has been non-stop for us at the shop and the track.”  Snyder continued, “We were suppose to debut the new 1968 Camaro for the 2015 season, but it wasn’t getting done.  So we moved onto plan B, and basically took all the new ideas and innovative products and put them in the same Corvette we have been campaigning for the past 5 seasons.  Not an easy deal, it had an ‘elephant in a school bus’ kind of feel to it.  Taking a Championship winning Pro Extreme car to legal Top Sportsman trim was a challenging, yet enjoyable adventure.”

Innovation is something Snyder Motorsports thrives on, both as a race team and a business, and the innovations in this new blown Top Sportsman venture are monumental.  The New ComSyncEFI System, which controls the engine, fuel and ignition electronically, has simplified the entire engine management.  ComSyncEFI controls the electronic fuel injectors, the coil packs and even the shift light and rpm rev limits.  ComSyncEFI also does the data recording for the car.  “EFI and simple.  Those are two words I would have never put together,” Snyder smiled. “But after a test session at US131 (Motorsports Park), I was amazed at all it could do.  It took all the ‘Supposedly, ComSync can do that’ to ‘ComSync does this and this and this’.  It even had Larry excited at the possibilities.”

“We will be making some test hits at St. Louis with Ryan Micke on Thursday.  We want to get some more laps on the new combination, both the ComSyncEFI Management System and the VED Hemi Heads.  We got a lot of changes going on here and we need a few laps to get it all sorted out.  This car is a lot different from when it won Dragstock at the end of last year in Pro Extreme.  It gained 300 pounds, a DMPE roots blower, an Aeromotive Fuel Pump, a third gear in the Lencodrive, a new stator in the Snyder-ized Coan Converter and a delay box.  This is the most excited I have been about racing in quite some time,” Snyder exclaimed.

Snyder 68 Camaro

Changes for Snyder in 2015

One of the Professional Drag Racers Association’s Pro Extreme Stars, Mick Snyder and his Powersource Transportation Team have some big changes coming in 2015.  The 2012 Pro Extreme Champions will not be hitting the track at the Texas Nationals during the PDRA season opener in Dallas.  The Snyder Motorsports Team is in the process of building a new ride for their 6th season with doors.  The past dragster, funny car and door slammer champs are trading out their iconic orange, screw blown 1963 Mauney Corvette for a new Tommy Mauney 1968 Chevy Camaro.  The new wheels will feature the famous Snyder Motorsports’ orange and the cherished Powersource Transportation logo, as the team’s major sponsor returns for their 8th season with the Team.

As if a new car was not exciting enough, there are even more changes in store for the DeMotte, Indiana based Team.  Change is something Snyder Motorsports thrives on, both as a race team and a business.  The old saying “The Only Thing that is Constant is Change” has worked well for them.  It has been the cornerstone of their successful motorsports business that is known for being on the cutting edge and the driving force behind their drag teams multiple championships in multiple classes with multiple organizations and cars.  “It is our quest for knowledge that keeps us changing.  We are always pushing the envelope and testing new things.  The challenge of new parts and ideas drives us,” stated Mick Snyder.  “We love to test ideas and perfect new parts.  It is what has made us so successful in racing and allowed us to grow our business.  From Junior Dragster clutches back in the mid-90’s to Lencodrive Transmissions, we have been known for doing what couldn’t be done and have been quite successful at it.  Let’s face it, back when we put the first Lencodrive - Coan Converter combo behind a Snyder Motorsports Hemi Engine the rest of the racers laughed, now it is seen as the standard.  Pushing the boundaries is something we enjoy.”

“This new Powersource Transportation Camaro will be no different.  It will be packed with new Snyder products and new technology.  We have worked with Visner Engine Development to create a new billet head, the VED Hemi Head.  These new VED Hemi Heads are a bolt on replacement.  It should be a real source of new power for our team and our customers.  We are also pushing the envelope with engine management.  Our new Snyder Motorsports Camaro will run electronic fuel injection.  This joint venture with Mick’s Performance will bring supercharged engines to the 21st century.  It is a new project that we are excited to be a part of,” exclaimed Snyder.

The 2015 season is full of change for Snyder Motorsports Powersource Transportation team.  The new car and new products are just the tip of the iceberg.  This new car’s power adder will be a roots blower.  For the first time in 15 seasons, a screw blower will not be between the rails of the Snyder Motorsports house car.  “It just opens up our options and we have had a lot of success with a roots blower over the years, including a championship back in the IHRA days.  We want to be able to test a lot of new ideas and products with this new car, and the roots blower gives us that opportunity,” explained Snyder.  “We can race Pro Boost or Top Sportsman in PDRA.  We can race Pro Mod, Top Sportsman and Comp in NHRA.  Not to mention, all the Outlaw Quick 8 races around the country.  It makes the most sense for where we want to go and what we want to accomplish.  Our racing schedule this year will be a combo of PDRA and NHRA events.  I personally can’t wait to get this new Orange Menace finished and out on the track.  It should be a great season for our team and our Snyder Motorsports customers.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, Coan Converters, R & R Racing Products, JE Pistons, Mick’s Performance, NGK Spark Plugs, Lucas Oil, Flatout Gaskets, Aeromotive, VP Racing Fuels, Snyder Auto, Long Printing and Goodson for their continued support over the years.
