Powersource Transportation - Snyder Motorsports
NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car

In 2008 the Snyder Motorsports Top Alcohol Funny Car Team, sponsored by Powersource Transportation, Inc., earned 3 wins, including the Brainerd, MN and season ending Pomona, CA NHRA National events, to secure themselves a 6 th place finish in the Lucas Oil national points standings. Driver Mick Snyder also had a 2 nd place finish in the divisional standings and represented Division 3 for the third straight year in the prestigious Jeg’s All-Star event.

Snyder, began driving at the age of 11 in the Jr. Dragster ranks, and made the natural progression into the sportsman classes beginning with Super Comp followed by Pro Outlaw. In 2001 he made another step up to the Top Alcohol Dragster category and found his home in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class midway through the 2003 season. After using the remainder of that season to learn the ropes, Snyder has established himself as one of the premier drivers in the very competitive class, winning back-to-back-to-back championships from 2004 thru 2006 and earning 4 top-ten finishes in the Lucas Oil national points standings in 5 years.

Last year, Snyder and his father Larry, who is a former world champion crew chief and driver himself, embarked on a new challenge. After making their name in the class with all they achieved with their unique converter and Lencodrive Transmission combination, they decided to make the switch to the more common clutch set-up. Unlike anything they had ever tuned before, the duo learned quickly, earning three wins and qualifying #1 four times during the season. Mick also became the only driver in the history of the class to win and qualify number one behind the wheel of a converter-equipped car and a clutch car.

The Team, based out of DeMotte, Indiana, is family owned and the crew consists of family members and friends who volunteer their time each weekend. Mick’s mother, Bev, is an intricate part of the race team. She attends each race and has many duties to perform between runs including monitoring the air. His sister Shanna, who also drives in the Super Comp class, and her husband Darren help out and attend as many races as possible throughout the season. Other members of the Powersource Transportation Team include Scott and Yvonne Vandenburg, Brian Pfeifer, Rick Herma and Carey Hamstra.

Competing in the NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car class takes a lot of hard work and energy throughout the year. The Team would like to thank all of their great sponsors and friends who make the dream possible including, Gibby Reed, Mike and Karen Spitzer and all the guys at Spitzer Race Cars and Rhyne Competition
